Traditional nursing education has not taught how patient resistance (non-compliance) can be avoided or resolved and clinicians often create some patient resistance without being aware of it. Clinician use of conversational skills can help reduce or resolve patient resistance altogether.
Upon completion of this session, the learner will be able to:
- Describe how the righting reflex causes resistance
- Identify ways to avoid and manage patient resistance
